In the images\/video, I am just using a standard Sony DSLR camera with a Sony E to M42 Adaptor with an M42 to 23.2mm transfer tube adaptor tube screwed into it (you can buy these for ~15 on eBay).  In your case, you would get an adaptor that fits your camera brand (sony\/cannon\/Fujifilm, etc.) that has an M42 ring. What you see in the images is what you'll get.  I am not aware of any scratches on the optics, but I cannot exclude the possibility that there may be minor scratches that become obvious only after the optics have been thoroughly cleaned.  You can see from the included video that you can still get good images even with the existing slightly unclean optics.  I gave the this microscope a very basic cleaning myself, but I don't really have the right cleaning products to clean optics.
